Easy to use

Creating professional 3D has probably never been easier than it what is in SketchUp Pro. Start by drawing simple lines and shapes and push and pull surfaces to turn them into 3D forms. The clean user interface and the simple tools let you get up and running in no time. With contextual tips, an instructor panel for beginners, and many online video tutorials, help is always available. Every SketchUp Pro license also includes a year of free technical support.

Powerful

More advanced users can start modeling from CAD and terrain data, photographs or even hand sketches. Build models with custom behaviors and attributes. Learn some of the useful short commands – and soon it is only your imagination and creativity that might limit you! Professionals in dozens of fields choose SketchUp Pro because it is flexible enough for any type of 3D modeling and communication.

Free textures and 3D models available

SketchUp Pro includes some useful textures in different materials, like wood and bricks. Simply apply a texture on a surface by dragging and dropping it. And although it is very simple, there is no need to design everything from scratch – SketchUp Pro’s 3D Warehouse provides many free models that you can use in your projects. In fact, it is the world’s biggest repository of free 3D models.

New in SketchUp Pro 2020

Outliner is A BIG model organization change. In an effort to increase model performance, you no longer have to create Layers upon Layers. Manage and organize your model straight within Outliner. Use the friendly eyeball icon to toggle between the major sections of your model, such as main floor plans and furniture.

New grips on bounding boxes

When you grab a point that is obscured in an object (such as a back corner or center point) and start to move it, your object will automatically go transparent when something in your model interferes with the object you are moving. This works with both the Rotate tool and Move tool. This will literally ‘transform’ your workflow. Don’t take our word for it: start positioning objects in hard to reach places to see what happens!

Better control of hidden objects

You’ll notice in your drop-down menu that hiding objects are separated from hiding geometry. How will this change your workflow? Well, this will give you the ability to better manage hidden geometry and hidden objects for an even easier modeling experience. For example, let’s say you want to edit hidden edges in a landscape or smoothed surface, but you still want to be able to hide objects that are nearby (like trees, bushes, or a building)... Well, you can do that now!

Updates to your SketchUp dictionary

There are a few updates to the naming conventions in SketchUp. Objects are now a collective term for: groups, components, and dynamic components. This means we don’t have to say “groups (slash) components” anymore. Also, Layers are now referred to as “Tags”. Keep in mind that these two terms are merely naming conventions and won’t influence your workflow.

External renderers

SketchUp Pro can be supplemented with external renderers:

Maintenance & Support

When you purchase a new license of SketchUp Pro, or when you upgrade from an older version, one year of SketchUp Maintenance & Support is mandatory (applies to Classic license). It entitles you to one year of free upgrades, maintenance and support. When the program is nearing the end of being active, you can choose to renew it to continually get the annual upgrades, maintenance, and support, year after year.
