Replicator 2 is the fourth generation of personal 3D-printers from MakerBot in Brooklyn, USA, which is focused on making 3D printing to desktop environment even easier, with thinner layers and better precision.

It is adapted to produce prototypes with the proven FFF-technology and using PLA-plastics made ​​from renewable and environmentally friendly products such as maize or rice. the PLA-plastic has the advantage of providing very accurate models with a real translation from CAD measurements to real object size. Once the models are complete, the user can pick them out from the printbed and use them right away, without the need for any chemical finishing. Layer thickness is as thin as a standard 80g A4 paper!
You can print files from most CAD software and other 3D modeling systems. The only thing you need to do is save the file as STL or OBJ format and open it in MakerWare software (free for all) to start printing prototypes. Your 3D-printer connects to your computer via a standard USB cable, but you can also print by transferring the file to a standard SD card that you can navigate through via the 3D printer's embedded LCD screen.
